Dawn Wright

Awarded SBA Fellow membership in 2019, Dawn is also a member of Northamptonshire Botanical Artists’ Society, The Eden Project Florilegium and the American Society of Botanical Artists. She has exhibited throughout the UK and has work in private collections both here and overseas.

Dawn is motivated by and is actively involved in raising the profile of botanical art. She delivers a regular programme of workshops at Easton Walled Gardens, Lincolnshire, in addition to weekly and monthly classes for adults and young people at Barnsdale Gardens, Rutland. Dawn is also invited to deliver workshops to wildlife trusts, botanical art societies and art groups throughout the UK.

Dawn’s love of nature and plants was very much inspired by her family and the countryside she grew up in on the outskirts of Manchester. Artistic endeavours were put ‘on hold’ whilst she established her career as a HR professional in the corporate telecomms world, until a significant life-changing event in 2000 allowed her to pursue her artistic interests once more. Studying for, and receiving a Certificate of Botanical Illustration at Leicester College in 2004, proved to be a form of bereavement therapy, and Dawn was keen to continue building upon her knowledge through attending short courses run by leading botanical artists. Dawn is intrigued by colour and texture in nature, and strives to depict the sometimes quiet drama of our flora and fauna, aiming for her work to have artistic impact in composition, colour and accuracy.
